So I have now been writing about the inadequacies of our town employees and Mayor for almost a month and I would say most of the response has been good. There have been a few negative e-mails sent to me. Today I will address them, Q. Why am I slamming the city and if I don't like like it I should move. A. I like Sherwood and it could be a much better place to live if our trusted servants would actually serve a purpose other than their own. Q. Why do you hide behind a fictitious name? A. It was spelled out once before but I guess you missed that, I use Robin Hood because he was a champion of the people. I am not afraid to use my real name but I would rather not confuse the issues. I want change not a public office or any other political gain. Q. You can't change anything, this has been going on since the beginning and will be going on long after you leave. A. Status Quo is not and excuse for poor management, strong arm tactics, or just plain illegal behavior. I would like to remind you that in 1776 a few folks started a revolution because they were tired of being cheated, lied to, and bullied. now we know how that worked out! Q. When are you going to stop this? A. NEVER!!! As long as the Sheriff of Nottingham and his cronies are still here I will not stop. Get over it! Change is coming like it or not. If you enjoy giving your money away there are several charities that can always use donations. Why are you so set on lining someone else's pockets? Are you that naive or just plain oblivious to reality in your drug soaked mind? A real question for you to ponder as you get another bong hit.
There have been a few really nasty ones laced with profanity and conjecture. I just delete them and chalk it up to the juvenile uneducated part of our town. That means they probably came form some low level employee of the city that is afraid they are going to lose their PERS. Enough said for today.
To the members of the council and the employees of our city, We Are Watching and you cannot escape. There's change you can count on! Ta Ta
Robin
The question was: "Why do you hide behind a fictitious name?" Your answer was: "It was spelled out once before but I guess you missed that...." etc.
ReplyDeleteYes I did. I missed that particular moment in history. Exactly Where were you "spelled out" and just what does "spelled out" mean? I am an amateur historian as well as an English Major. I am naturally curious about such phrases.
Hi Clyde,
ReplyDeleteI have never made a claim to be and English major or even a writer. I rely heavily on Spellchecker to catch most of my errors. Anyway I poke in an earlier post that my purpose for being here is not for anything more than opening folks eyes to the truth. I have no political aspirations, nor wish anything more than for more than one or two people to show at least a little outrage for how our city is run.
It was also my attempt at sarcasm, guess that didn't work out for me.
Robin
If people would put half the time they spend bashing the few that are trying help into educating themselves about whats going on in their own city government we would all benefit.
ReplyDeleteRobin is an asset that isn't truly appreciated, I'll bet a amateur historian could find many a hero that fits the same description,Just think what an English Major could do with valuable information.
Keep up the good work Robin.....you have a few of us in your corner.
ReplyDeleteThank you Steffan, It seems that the good people of Sherwood would rather stick their heads in the sand than actually do something about it. Most of the people I have spoken to really want change but feel that they cannot fight a system that is so corrupt and self serving that is a immense waste of time to even try. I really do wonder how Sherwood got the distinction in 2007 as the 18th most desirable city to live in. The schools have been run into the ground with bare bones education. But hey we have a good football team. To be fair we do have a great football team and the players are tops, but if the can't even meet the federal guidelines for education than what is the point. Ta Ta and thanks for the support
ReplyDeleteRobin
Being a resident of Sherwood for 16 years, I find this to be somewhat disturbing - the fact that your just bashing our city, and not offering up a solution as to what can be done. Also, I side with Clyde here, when [exactly] did you deliver unto us your *real* name?
ReplyDeleteYou wouldn't by chance also be the grumpy old meiser that owns that large construction sign that overlooks Highway 99 with all of its negative, and bitter comments; would you?
Zzzzzzz. Oh! Excuse me! Is it my turn? It is such a bright, beautiful Sunday morning. It is difficult to focus on a totally colorless web page such as "Life in Sherwood." I present a much more accurate (as well as colorful) example of "Life in Sherwood" at http://sherwoodhistoricalsociety.blogspot.com/2010/06/rainbow-steals-show.html
ReplyDeletePraetorian, I am so glad to see you pay attention, I will try to explain once again since you obviously have not read enough. I use an alias because i do not want to confuse the issues with personal gain. I have given many solutions to what I said, Get rid of Sherwood Broadband, improve our police equipment, Support our schools and PD. I am assuming that since you lived here for 16 years you are ok with the status quo! Or maybe you benefit from the shenanigans going on. One final thing, no i am not those folks on 99, nor am i aligned with anyone. This is my opinion and if you don't like it, too bad. so far no one can refute the things I have said and probably never will. Clyde you are a bright spot in the is fair city. I will agree to disagree with you on certain issues. Happy Sunday all.
ReplyDelete"Or maybe you benefit from the shenanigans going on" This, requires further explination. If I may ask, would you think it beneficial if we purged all city employees and the mayor as well?
ReplyDeleteI would like to comment on the fact that you seem to think our schools have been "run into the ground"; this is not true, due to the fact that I currently attend schooling in Sherwood. First hand experience is a great thing to have.
Praetorian, obviously your a product of the school system I have mentioned. First the correct spelling is "explanation" and the use of Praetorian as a handle has not been researched very well. You do realize that the Praetorian Guard were the enforcers of the Caesars? Although they started out as the "good guys' they later became corrupt and even later assassins to anyone who spoke out against the the elite. they squashed the common folk and enforced cruelty and took away the common man's rights. One final thought too, I ask for the removal of the Mayor, City Manager, and the heads of the engineering and Budget department. I also ask for an independent investigator/auditor to go through the city's dealing over the last 10 years and prosecute any person violating the law. We all know that this would never happen as the city has much to hide. Just look what they did to the former chief. They violated a federal law (The Uniformed Services Employment, and Reemployment Rights Act USERRA) got sued and settled only because the former chief chose not to hammer at the city. Understand that they violated that same law before the man even got back to Oregon. They actually had the audacity to fly to D.C. to give him the bad news. WOW that is a set. Since you say your in school here in Sherwood, you don't pay taxes, water bills, or actually have any idea what I am really talking about. Lastly yes the schools have been run into the ground, Sherwood Middle School and SHS both are on the Federal bad boy list for 2 years straight. (see previous blog) This is in part to the fact that the teachers are overwhelmed and over worked while the administrators use student labor to do a job they are over payed for. I feel for you the students as your being robbed of a much needed education. Ta Ta
ReplyDeleteRobin
PS I look forward to seeing the SAT average for SHS this year. I hope I am proved wrong and they have increased their scores.
OK, I'll bite. While beating up on the poor kid for his spelling, you mis-spelled "you're." Twice.
ReplyDeleteOh bother! I thought we were going to have a real discussion here and all we're arguing about is spelling! BTW ("By-The-Way") : Thank you for your compliment, Robin Hood. I am indeed trying to manifest myself as an Angel of Light. The problem with being an Angel of Light (and this comes from the Talmud) is that Satan Himself appears as an Angel of Light in the Book of Isaiah. That is what "Lucifer" means! Oh God! Oh no! And so we must choose our answers carefully! The real and ultimate question being: how do you tell the difference between a Good angel and an Evil angel? Thankfully, the question has already been settled. Hundreds of years ago, after much debate among the scholars of Israel, it was agreed that a Good Angel of Light will always leave you feeling joyful and proud. A Bad Angel of Light will leave you feeling confused and miserable. And so, inspired by this truly profound wisdom, I challenge the "Life in Sherwood" website: Which Side Are You On?
ReplyDeleteHey List, during your tenure, how many give-aways did you help go thru? sub division after sub division.. yes you did it..
ReplyDeleteyes i did misspell, however beating up on a kid, I think not. I challenge that it is a kid as he/she changes tone. Enough of this anyway it goes away from the real issues and that is the City and their lack of true leadership and integrity. Clyde you can challenge all day long but as i have said from the start, this is my blog, it is here for a purpose. Any questions you may have are mostly answered in the first few days of blogging. Please go back and read it. Ta Ta
ReplyDeleteRobin
This is to "Anonymous" and "Robin Hood": I know who you are. Take off your silly robes and douse your burning crosses. There are other far more serious problems for you and I to discuss than what some silly City Council in Oregon does with its time. The problems America is facing are far more spectacular than the penny-ante stuff the Sherwood City Council perpetrates!
ReplyDeleteHere. Here's one for you. "Thinking about a recent essay in the Portland Oregonian authored by a highly educated "millenial" who currently stands in the unemployment line wondering why his hearfelt bond with Steven Jobs does not entitle him to the cat bird's seat in America's economy."
ReplyDeleteI posted that on my Facebook. But of course, you won't join my Facebook page because you are all too busy hiding in the darkness here at barely noticeable "Life in Sherwood." I say, Come OUT! Come out of the darkness and join the real discussion that is going on.
ReplyDeleteClyde, how dare you refer to me as one of those haters, just goes to show that when a weak mind has nothing intelligent to say they will always resort to name calling. In fact if you know who I am why don't you go ahead and tell everyone here? I will admit that you were able to anger me at that comment which was your intention, but in the end all you do is further my resolve. If you feel it is ok to waste our tax money on scams then might i suggest you turn over 50% of your net wealth to the city to fund it. Otherwise pay attention cause there is a lot more to come. Ta Ta
ReplyDeleteRobin
Praetorian...my dear friend...have you actually taken the time to attend the City Council Meetings or do any homework on the issues being shared by Clyde or Robin?! Doesn't really sound like it. But then again, it is clear by your words that you are very ignorant as many are. Someday you may wake up once the City runs out of money and wants to increase your taxes again. And that Grumpy Old Miser on HWY 99 is actually a champion for the City and trying to make sure they are looking out for the interests of the people rather than their own salaries and PERS pensions.
ReplyDeleteWhen you discovered Google, I'm sure you had an epiphany on the spot. It's great for looking up the history to words which you aren't intimately familiar with! I learned the word in 7th grade when I was assigned to write a story on ancient Rome, while all the other little chitlins wrote about mass battles and gladiators, I decided to write a story about the 'Praetorian Guard'. I don't much care if you're not pleased with my 'handle'... I spelled one word wrong, oh-me-oh-my! *hands rush to face in an overly dramatic gesture* Oddly enough, I'm intelligent enough to know that your writings are for the most part, ignorant and pompous! I'm in HI SKOOLZ, and I realize what a pompous [ass] person you are. Excuse my French, I'm taking Spanish. Also, regarding comment of attributing childish, immature comments to "low-level" city hall employees: I find it very hard to believe that it's only a city hall employee saying bad things about you. I don't work for city hall, and I'm saying "childish" and "immature" things about you.
ReplyDeleteHonestly, you sound like a stereotypical 'tea-party' Republican. Do you ever watch Hardball, With Chris Matthews, on MSNBC? They did a great piece called 'Rise Of The New Right' (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/3036697/ its the first clip under 'Features') Or, perhaps you identify with Glenn Beck, and his newest -and most extreme- book, The Overton Window (http://www.amazon.com/Overton-Window-Glenn-Beck/dp/1439184305/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&s=books&qid=1278031380&sr=8-1 I'm sure you'll enjoy it). I have also taken the liberty (such a subjective word) of linking you out to good 'ol Rush's webbie (http://www.rushlimbaugh.com/home/today.guest.html) if the aforementioned materials aren't doing anything for you. Countdown, With Keith Oblerman is a great show. I've taken to watching it before school.
P.S. I heard Fox News is looking for a few more correspondents. They take them right off the street now.

Thankfully, I'm not required to pay taxes. I guess the children of America are an ignorant, snotty breed, aren't they? But, MY dearest friend, perhaps you're right, I should do my research. Mmmm.... perhaps when school comes back in session, I've done enough for one year.
ALSO! Excuse my late response to your lovely, and heartwarming comments, I was enjoying my summer, as well as our fair city. I challenge you to find a city in the world that doesn't have a problem. Or perhaps you're all just going to rise up, and overthrow our government like the patriots did. Good luck friend!

Forgive me for the double-posting, Google kept coming up with an error, silly Google!
ReplyDeletePraetorian, I wasn't trying to degrade you as a person, I was trying to point out the certain things about our education system. as I have stated many times we are failing you as students by not giving you the best education we can. Enjoy your summer and be safe.
ReplyDeleteRobin
Robin, I believe it's in your best intrest to stop critisizing something that you're not an active part of on a day-to-day basis. My education is great, and my classes are challenging. Some kids are simply NOT motivated to do anything in school, and that wont change. Ever. Schools can't do much about it, and let me tell you, Sherwood High School has tried. The opinions and views of a select group of students that don't want to participate don't reflect the views and goals of those that do. So, I would stop blaming a school system that's doing a fine job in many student's eyes, and focus your efforts elsewhere. Several of my peers have read your comments on our school, shaken their heads and walked away. Also, I learned in school that you capitalize words at the beginning of a sentence, "education system. as I have stated". And yes, the period goes outside of the quotes!
