Election Rant

Wow it has been far too long since I visited you all. Lets catch up on a few things; 1. I will truly miss Mr Clark and his infectious personality. The City has lost a true Councilor and steward. Folks I will not tell you how to vote nor will I tell you how I voted. I just remind you that our water bills are higher than our electric bills, we have now been FORCED to swallow this cannery project, which BTW will probably be the undoing of the 17th greatest place to live. We have seen red light cameras that our police chief had to state on the ARCHER that it is for safety and not revenue generation. All I can say is PANTS ON FIRE!!!!! If the city wanted to keep anyone safe they would never have built those horrible eyesores on the corners of old town. Besides being horribly ugly they also block drivers views and are darn unsafe. Instead of red light camera's, maybe Van Cameras in our school zones. now that would be good for the safety of our children. Lastly we have Sherwood Broadband and the City Manager, both need to go. Both cost us too much money and only serve a small portion of our fair city. Remember this when casting your vote for the folks who have brought all this misuse of our hard earned dollars, and back office deals that only benefit themselves. The same folks who promised the kids a skate park and then set it up for failure so it could not happen. Shame on you all. Remember City of Sherwood, we are watching and voting. Folow up and something new

Hello fellow citizens of the forest, SO now it seems that not only has he lied but you can't even find his article on the Sherwood Gazette's web page. I guess even they don't want to print it anymore. One other thing of note, I am now going through the new Dog rules and fee schedule. Can anyone say income generation and selective enforcement? They claim it is a complaint driven fine. Wow that is their version of if we don't like you, we will claim there was a complaint and fine you. I have a friend who was hammered by the Police in Old Town for parking more than 2 hours and he was the only one to get a ticket. Even though a City Councilor was parked even longer. The City Manager and the Chief claimed it was complaint driven. I say it was illegal, unfair, and downright dirty. This is also being brought to you by the same folks that have stated in the press that the red light camera's are for income generation and then traffic safety. How much longer are we going to put up with the shifty back office business deals and lies coming out of the City Hall? Remember November is on the horizon and time for some real change. WOW Transparency from City Manager

HI fellow residents of Sherwood. By now everyone has gotten a copy of the Gazette or the Archer and saw the wonderful article written by our City Manager talking about his pay and transparency in the city, oh yeah and earning our trust ROFLMAO. I figured what the heck I will follow his link to the budget and salaries. Now if you go to page 105 of the 2010-2011 budget and scroll to the bottom of the page you will see City Manager/ City Recorder/Municipal Judge and if you look closely it says contract employees and no salary!!! Big surprise there!! so much for transparency. Sir your a liar and not even a very good one. But we will get to that in a moment. Scroll back up the page to the first entry Admin Asst III - Confidential, now who the heck is that I ask? How is anything in this city confidential? Are they hiding something? Probably, You ask us in your article to trust you, and your cronies. Not going to happen sir, in fact I and a few others are going to be on you like the sticky side of tape. you have stolen from us, cheated us, fee'd us to death. your only recourse at this point is to resign immediately and pray you can get a way clean. your mis-management of this city is borderline criminal. Your a liar and a thief. Shame on you!!! WE ARE WATCHING!!! TA TA

Coucil Seats and Mayor


Good Saturday Morning all, So it seems that now is time to make changes, The Mayor and a few council seat are up for grabs. Time for change means voting out the folks who have constantly allowed our money to be wasted and bring fresh faces in. If we can make a small change in the thought process of our council then maybe our fair city stands a chance. Stop the bleeding of our hard earned tax dollars. One has already dropped out of the race, makes you wonder why? Lets talk Sherwood Broadband for a moment as it is one of the biggest waste of time a resources. First i did a little searching at the Corporation division, interesting enough Jim Patterson is the Authorized representative for Sherwood Broadband. Now that is not a bad thing as he is the City Manager. But it does make him responsible for the actions of the "company". So in digging a little deeper we find that PROSTRUCTURE CONSULTING maintains the network and there is only the top official listed. Now think for a moment when you visit the Sherwood Broadband website and click on the Coverage button you get a neat little map that shows the area of coverage. I had to find out the total number of households covered so I again went to the trusty internet and to a site called portlandmaps.com. I carefully counted the total number of houses for our "FREE" service and lo and behold it came to a whopping 250 homes!!!!! At 1 million a year that is a cost to the city of $4,000 per year!!!! think about this little folly when you vote in November!!! Ta Ta

City Streets

So today I was walking in old town and lo and behold they are tearing up the street. Now that is a good thing and a bad thing. The good part is that they are fixing the sewers on Washington St. At least when I look at my water bill I can be happy that those fees went to something constructive. I also noted that they are tearing up our million dollar granite blocks that were breaking apart from the first 30 days they were installed. They look nice but the design was flawed from the beginning. Just ask em and they will tell you. So ok we are working to make our city look better, I can agree with that. Then the guy who was doing the replacement tells another guy that it really doesn't make any difference as the city plans to tear them up next year!!! Holy Cow!!! So we the tax payers are paying for these repairs again on a design that was flawed from the beginning only to have it torn up next year and replaced by the right kind of materials? Can anyone explain the logic on this adventure in wasteful spending? Oh yeah and one more thing, hold on your gonna love this.... better sit down though... it was OUR city architect who designed this flawed project and held the contractor to the inferior materials used...... Even though the contractor told the city that is was the wrong materials. This fiasco was brought to you by the same people that are still running our city and want to tell the contractor how to build the cannery project. Enough is enough! go to the city council meetings and tell them you have had enough!!! One more thing Mr Patterson (yes i am using your name) your time is limited here, we are watching and waiting for you to make a big mistake and then you are gonna be gone. Your and all your cohorts need to go. I am sure when you read this you will laugh but I remind you of one thing, If you or anyone of your employees mis-appropriated 1 dollar of federal money you are going to jail. I heard a vicious rumor that the federal government is very interested in your dealings with their money. If I were you I would resign now and run like your predecessor did. Ta Ta.... Robin Hood

Robin has been taking some much needed time off. He will be back shortly sticking it to our elected and paid officials here in Sherwood. I know Robin would love nothing better than to write about nothing but good things about our fair city and can't wait till that day comes. Robin just wants the City to come clean and transparent with their handling of our hard earned tax dollars. his disdain starts when there are people in charge of our city that are not qualified for the jobs they hold and then collect a huge salary on top of it. We here in the forest are not angry about spending money to improve our fair city or even new projects, we just want them done without a hidden agenda. We support more money to our schools, POLICE, and services, just don't line your pockets with it. Remember in just a few weeks our children will be returning to another school year, Drive slowly in our school zones and keep our kids safe. If not our friends in blue will be writing you a hefty ticket.

School Update

Congratulations to the Sherwood teachers for getting our schools off the Troubled List Although the High School is still on the troubled list, it has shown enough improvement to no longer be watched. This is all under the "no child left behind" law. The dropout rate is still Alarming,we can improve upon that with time. Thank you Sherwood teachers!!! You and the kids deserve the Kudos for this accomplishment. Ta Ta

Skate Park Part 2

SO who picked up the Saturday edition of the Oregonian and read the article in the neighborhood section? Well if not CLICK HERE The city sat in several City Council meetings PROMISING these kids they would have a safe place to skate and yet they can't find enough money to build this park now that they didn't get any funds form the state. well since they were 30 out of 31 and only the top 9 are given grants I am thinking they did a half hearted garbage proposal. OMG, Estacada wrote a better proposal! We can spend millions on an adult playground (Arts Center) coupled with a potentially failed attempt at being a Landlord (apartments and retail/office space), but something for our kids nope not going to happen. I have an idea, Shut down Sherwood broadband and you will not only have enough money but more people will use the skate park than use Sherwood Broadband anyway and have a bunch of money left over. It has been reported to me by more than a few people that our Sheriff of Nottingham (City manager) has asked the Police to start ticketing kids for riding their skateboards on the street, in front of City hall and on school grounds. I bet the Sheriff had kittens when he saw the picture in the paper of the kids skating in front of City Hall. ROFLMAO! I am sure he has instructed the Police to go have a conversation with the parents of those boys. This would fall in line with something else reported a few weeks ago and that I also observed, I saw a policeman in old town lecturing some skaters for a good 20 mins about riding on the sidewalks. These boys were age range of 9-13 and one of the little darlings wasn't wearing a helmet. Not more than 10 mins later a second Police car shows up. 2 Police cars for this horrid gang on misguided youth. Too funny, now the boy not wearing a helmet was in violation of City and ORS rules. But come on 2 Police cars, We want our children to respect the Police not fear them for harassment. I have an Idea for the skate park, have some car washes and solicit private donations and get this built. Make the City keep that 100k for matching funds. For goodness sakes get his done. Lastly I was given some info on some shenanigans the city has done in 2008 that may very well be illegal with this Cannery Project and some land deals dealing with one of our more powerful families in the city. I have also been told by some other folks that the city is charging a HUGE price to provide information under the freedom of information act. Now there is no such thing as private information at the city level, it is all public info, What does the city have to hide? Hmmmm something to ponder. I have a request for the city, in the next Archer please post the annual salaries of the city manager and all the heads of each department. I was looking through the annual budget and could not find a breakdown only a total of salaries for each department. What are we hiding? This has been a very long winded post but I had a lot to say.

AIRSOFT Guns

Wow, I am again amazed at how our public officials can make a mockery of themselves. Please read the front page of the Sherwood Gazette and the article on AIRsoft guns. Click Here for the Story I really want to comment on this but the story does it better. I just have one question, please tell me the leadership at Sherwood PD is not so inept they called in a helicopter for a plastic gun that the trained eye should be able to tell the difference? This does NOT reflect on the patrolman but of the leaders, Chief that would be you!!! You too SGT's!!! If one of our patrolmen KILL a teen with an airsoft he/she will have to live with that for the rest of their lives and in the end it will fall on the leaders shoulders. Here is a quote from the article: "three Sherwood police officers, a Tualatin officer, two King City officers and a Washington County sheriff’s deputy headed toward the teen, a patrol car leading the way down the street followed by the officers who had shields, hand guns, beanbag weapons and rifles drawn". If this does not frighten you than the next quote should; “The mere fact of owning (an airsoft gun) is not a crime or against our city ordinance,” said Sherwood Police Sgt. Ty Hanlon. He added, however, that it is against the law to fire such a weapon within Sherwood city limits. Although the majority of Nick’s airsoft gun was transparent, police say they can’t take any chances in assuming it’s a toy gun, pointing out that more and more components of handguns are being constructed with clear polymer plastics".

OMG I decided to do some research on clear plastic polymers used in weapons, Doesn't exist although Glock does use black and dark gray they don't ever use clear for this very reason, and the fact that clear would always look dirty and give the weapon an unclean appearance. Later in this same this same SGT talks about the weight being nearly the same with and airsoft and a real MP5. Once again I chose to look this up, Wrong again, 2.5 lbs and H-K MP5 6.8 Nearly 3 times the weight.

This kind of fear and mis-information is going to get a kid killed. Are you all really serious that no less than 7 HEAVILY armed police officers could not even determine that a kid was not holding a real weapon? Was the red tip removed? Could they not see that it was clear? Now if this were an area that was known for gang activity or gun crime I would understand. Poor decision making and lack of proper training are going to create a tragedy that can be avoided. I fear for our officers as one of these days a real tragedy is going to happen. Our Patrol Officers deserve better leaders. Ta Ta

Handly St.

So it seems that the administrative policy from the leaders of our Police Dept and City.


A friend emailed me a link to your blog about Sherwood, and I thought maybe you would be interested in the letter I sent to the police yesterday (and later forwarded to The Gazette, City council members and the police chief). Fourteen years we have attempted to address this issue with the city and have gotten nowhere. My bet is that I hear back from no one.

This last weekend, I was the witness to a rather severe car accident in front of my home on Handley Street. I was able to assist the three young ladies involved, and thankfully none were seriously injured. A fellow neighbor is an accident investigator and he estimated that the vehicle that 'T-boned' the other was traveling between 40-42 mph. The accident occurred approximately 50 feet from a stop sign. There were no skid marks and the driver did not hit her brakes.

Unfortunately, this is not the first accident on this road. My neighbors' dog was hit last summer, there have been several accidents involving parked cars, and I know of at least one 'hit and run'. I know that traffic surveys have been conducted, complaints have been made (myself included), but in all honesty, I have lived here for almost 14 years and the only 'resolution' provided up to this point is a stop sign near the new school. Every neighbor I have talked to on Handley is deeply concerned over the speeding on this road and the uptick in accidents. I am on the HOA board and there is no issue that 'brings people to the table' than the speeding on this street. Neighbors have taken to putting up their own 'slow down' signs, yelling at passing drivers, all seem to be in vain. I frequent Durham Road in Tigard and can attest that the flashing signage displaying the drivers' speed is very effective at slowing traffic.

As a neighborhood, what do we need to do to get additional stop signs installed, flashing lights, 'your speed is' signage or something to draw attention to this issue? When is enough enough? Does a child need to be injured before the issue is finally addressed? Is this an issue we need to bring to the attention of the City? If the issue is one of finances, how much would I have to pay personally to get additional signage installed?

Any assistance or direction you can provide would be appreciated.

City Of Sherwood Water

So I have received numerous e-mails referencing The City of Sherwood Water billing and their predatory practices. It seems that after a year they have finally got all the bugs worked out of the system, and are now giving you a whole 72 hours to pay your past due or face being shut off. I wonder if this sudden need for money has anything to do with the Water project that is now at least 30 days behind and over budget by 15%? The City is going broke and they need income from you. I was talking to a business owner yesterday the poor guy has a monthly bill of 94.20 and 18.00 is water usage, Wow how can this be the 18th most desirable city to live in? Top it all off with a City Manager who takes a 17k raise in the worst economy in 80 years. This man should be fired immediately before we are so broke we can't put gas in our Police cars. Shame on you City of Sherwood. One last thing, if you have a complaint about the water utility billing, you can call the State of Oregon Public Utility commission and lodge a formal complaint. their number is 1-800-522-2404. Robin Hood Festival

So here we are upon another Robin Hood Festival. This is a wonderful thing for our city, but once again has proven to be mis-managed by the city. They have decided to close the roads to parking some as early as Today at 8 AM. Now do not confuse my statements that I am against this festival as that would be completely untrue. What I am saying is that maybe the city would have the forethought to maybe figure a way to do this with little impact on the businesses of Sherwood. IN this economy business owners need as much time to run their business as possible. WHY oh WHY must the streets be closed down so early? The festival does not start until after 6 pm on Friday. What is the point of shutting down half of the meager parking as it is so early? Once again poor planning on the City's part and the heck with the businesses that are stuck. SHAME SHAME SHAME!!! From what I understand the businesses were not even asked, they were told by some gentleman and cute young girl that this is the way it is and sorry for your luck. City Manager you disgust me in your cavalier attitude toward the operation of this fair city. I am hoping that you will cross the line and finally get sued for the HORRIBLE way you mange this city. I wouldn't let you manage a Coffee stand let alone a city. RESIGN RESIGN RESIGN, before we finally catch you and you end up in jail for your actions. Remember we are watching and waiting... TA TA

Conspiracy theory in Sherwood

Happy Wednesday all,

I received and e-mail last week asking some very hard questions about who really runs our city. They made an inquiry that it may be a certain church group. Well here is what I found in my research, The true leaders of our fair city, (not the City Council), are a mixed bunch of several groups. That means that to answer that person question, NO it is not one Church group running the show. It is being mismanaged by the City Manager, City Engineer, City Planner, and City Budget office. And to clarify I am not a member of the church group mentioned so this is a completely unbiased accounting.

There was also another letter about traffic control on Handley Street. It seems that it is a raceway and several accidents have happened. This person who emailed me about this is very concerned about the children or pedestrians getting hit or killed. They have sent letters to the CITY and the Chief of Police and yet no answer. Wow big surprise there. Well Chief and CITY of Sherwood, To knowingly ignore a complaint by a concerned citizen you are in essence stating it is ok, and should be ready to accept responsibility. I know how you feel, if you ignore it long enough it will either go away or fix itself. SHAME ON YOU!!!! If one child gets hurt because of your inaction to serve and protect, you should turn in your badge and hang your head in shame. How dare you City of Sherwood ignore a residents plea for help. Shame on you too!!!! Ta Ta

A simple message

Wow,

After enjoying a wonderful holiday of friends, family and fun I was reading the post comments on my 4th of July message. I was absolutely appalled by the unintelligent responses. All I was saying was happy birthday America. How can anyone see anything bad in that? Praetorian, I will not even comment on what you were commenting about as I am sure you have no idea what freedom of speech, or better yet the 1st amendment even means. I am fine with opposing opinion but being argumentative is just plain silly. Clyde although I do not agree with you on most issues the name calling from anonymous is not appropriate in this forum. Keep in mind that also applies to you and Sandy. This is not a place for banter and evading what the real issues are and that is improving our City Government. There was one thing brought up that I had not even intended but Praetorian touched upon it without even knowing, Taxation without representation. I think my water bills with all their fees and the fee structure imposed by the brick palace on Pine st. have imposed on the unknowing here in Sherwood. I thank you for bringing that to my attention. I have an e-mail box full of subjects to touch upon, written by several concerned citizens. I will be getting to them all over the next few days. I hope everyone had a safe holiday. Ta Ta

Sherwood Fish Wrapper

After reading through 24 pages of fluff and propaganda, I read the crown jewell on the front page concerning the City Council approving the 11.4 million dollar budget. WOW!! If you read further through the article, The Sheriff of Nottingham states "City Manager Jim Patterson said the new budget includes no reductions in staff or city services.

However, Patterson has said a staff reduction could be possible if the city’s revenue and expense projections prove inadequate six months from now". Now I am sure that will not include him giving back the 17k in raise he got this year!

Next paragraph you get this: "Still, the approved budget does allow some leeway for hiring if the proposed red light cameras planned for Highway 99W prove to generate an increased workload for city staff. Patterson said if the statistical data provided by RedFlex Traffic Systems, the company expected to provide the cameras, is correct, additional staff could be hired". SO this reads if we generate enough from someone barely making it through a red light we can hire 2 more folks and pay our judge more for the added tickets! Maybe it would be better to have our Police sit by one of those magical stop signs they used to show in the movies.

the last paragraph breaks down the money we give away, "Meanwhile, groups that will receive grant funding and their respective amounts include: Robin Hood Festival, $16,000 (along with $7,500 in in-kind contributions); Sherwood Senior Citizens Inc., $8,000; Raindrops to Refuge, $7,000; Sherwood Cultural Arts Committee, $5,000; Sherwood Foundation for the Arts, $2,500 (with $5,000 in in-kind contributions); Sherwood Historical Society, $4,500 (which goes to the public works facilities budget for repairing the porch of the Morback house, home of the Sherwood Historical Society; Community Action, $2,000; and Faith in Action, $1,000". There are only 2 that I agree with, 1. Sherwood Senior Citizens Inc., $8,000; and 2. Sherwood Historical Society, $4,500 (which goes to the public works facilities budget for repairing the porch of the Morback house. No Clyde not because of you. Just kidding!

The raindrops for refuge is a PAC, Sherwood Cultural arts is nice but not needed right now, Community Action PAC, and Faith in Action religious group. Sorry that whole church and state thing. pesky little part of the constitution.

Now maybe these aren't big in their own right, but when we need to replace Police cars and hire more teachers we should be more fiscally conscience of what we spend our money on.

Good Morning Council,





I was shocked to hear that there was close to
$40k of staff time to supervise the Senior Center Parking Lot project and
$18k for architectural design from out side consultants.



It was a real EYE opener when Bob Galati
said it was normal for the Staff to add up 40% of the cost of the projects for there time. This certainly is not common in the private sector for
sure!

That is wrong in so many ways. What am I missing? That project is not complex and should not
require so much overhead cost.

Bob said that all projects were charged by the city the same
way. What a complete waste of tax dollars.

It was interesting that Bob could not provide a clear explanation
to Robin Folsom's question as to what exactly those additional Administrative
cost were. Oh do a little side step!!!! .

This is definitely something that the public should
be made aware of since it IS our tax dollars being spent!



You are in charge off this process!

You have the power to change it!

Monday

So I have now been writing about the inadequacies of our town employees and Mayor for almost a month and I would say most of the response has been good. There have been a few negative e-mails sent to me. Today I will address them, Q. Why am I slamming the city and if I don't like like it I should move. A. I like Sherwood and it could be a much better place to live if our trusted servants would actually serve a purpose other than their own. Q. Why do you hide behind a fictitious name? A. It was spelled out once before but I guess you missed that, I use Robin Hood because he was a champion of the people. I am not afraid to use my real name but I would rather not confuse the issues. I want change not a public office or any other political gain. Q. You can't change anything, this has been going on since the beginning and will be going on long after you leave. A. Status Quo is not and excuse for poor management, strong arm tactics, or just plain illegal behavior. I would like to remind you that in 1776 a few folks started a revolution because they were tired of being cheated, lied to, and bullied. now we know how that worked out! Q. When are you going to stop this? A. NEVER!!! As long as the Sheriff of Nottingham and his cronies are still here I will not stop. Get over it! Change is coming like it or not. If you enjoy giving your money away there are several charities that can always use donations. Why are you so set on lining someone else's pockets? Are you that naive or just plain oblivious to reality in your drug soaked mind? A real question for you to ponder as you get another bong hit.

There have been a few really nasty ones laced with profanity and conjecture. I just delete them and chalk it up to the juvenile uneducated part of our town. That means they probably came form some low level employee of the city that is afraid they are going to lose their PERS. Enough said for today.

To the members of the council and the employees of our city, We Are Watching and you cannot escape. There's change you can count on! Ta Ta

Sherwood Broadband Part 2

Here is a list of questions and answers provided to me by one of our concerned citizens. My Commentary will be after each question with my name in front of it.

What companies? Demonstrate that this has "attracted businesses to Sherwood"

ROBIN: The only companies Sherwood Broadband would help is the coffee shops and maybe the little restaurant that has changed owners a million times.

What is the math on this? 20Mb Comcast Business line is $200 per month 6 city facilities plus 6 School District (12x200x12=28,200).. also, as part of the Comcast franchise agreement Comcast is obligated to provide certain services as negotiated.
"SBB has saved the City of Sherwood̢۪s general fund over $200k and provides $100k annually in combined savings to both the city and school district"

ROBIN: ROFL, You have got to be kidding me, This is the bill of goods shoved down our throats. The city Generates about 300k of the 1,500,000.00 it costs us annually. This must be magic math, you know the same kind as our Board of Education uses for graduation rates.

What is the benefit? How many Sherwood residents use this system on a daily, weekly, monthly basis. What is the utilization (bandwidth use) of the system? I have never used it.
"While Sherwood Broadband has contributed many benefits to the community it has come at a financial cost."

ROBIN: ie I get rich off this garbage deal and you get the shaft. OMG I cannot believe this.

Why? We have two alternate service providers who market these services actively (how many FIOS flyers do you get in one week).
"Promote broadband utilization within Sherwood, and stimulate Economic Development
through the use of broadband services."


ROBIN: How stupid are we to allow these morons to run our city?

The following is a brief from another concerned citizen and their questions they want answered. BTW these and many other questions have been asked by many folks and never answered. I guess we are not adult enough to handle the truth or they just plain don't know...

I cannot find anywhere (in any document), where the estimate was 10M, $200-300K is all. This is public record, they should provide proof. Besides, this is 10Years later.. fiber is now more ubiquitous.

"In early 2001 staff proposed a project called the Sherwood Community Access Network
System (SCANS). The scope of this project was to build a community network and deliver it to every home in Sherwood via fiber optic communications. The price of this project was estimated at the time at about $10 million."

Total revenue is 325k in "past performance for 2009-10" then drops to 203,500 in "projected performance for 2009-10"?? What does this mean? The numbers don't make any sense

What does this mean? Who are the partners? Are other entities making money on the infrastructure that was installed and paid for by Sherwood residents?
"Partnerships" “ Partnering with other Internet Service Providers has the greatest
opportunity for Sherwood Broadband to both increase utilization of the network as well as revenue. With the sales force these ISPs offer they have a much greater opportunity to sell service in Sherwood than what SBB could do on its own."

What is the benefit to Sherwood residents (tax payers)? How does this make Sherwood more livable? Prove it! What research? Again, there are already two service providers in Sherwood offering services.
"Sherwood Broadband, as with most utilities, provides community services beyond its pro forma and break even analysis that can be measured better in terms of "livability".
Considerable research has concluded that the presence of broadband services assists a community in attracting businesses, as well as making a community more attractive for its residents."

OK Folks it is time to rise up and push these idiots out. City of Sherwood you are warned!!! RESIGN RESIGN RESIGN, or you will be forced out in disgrace. Ta Ta

Sherwood Broadband

OK I am finally done reading over this mess called Sherwood Broadband, wow the inconsistencies, and double speak astounds even me. I am still missing a few things but once I get them I will give a much more informative report. The simple solution is to shut it down, get our money back from the thieves who took it, and terminate any City Employee for Conflict of interest, and open an investigation for Waste, Fraud, and Abuse. Now that I got that off my chest, I want to thank the Cruisin Sherwood gang for a job well done and creating something positive here in our fair city. It was a gorgeous day and a great time for all who attended. I really have a lot to rant about today but I think I will wait another day as I enjoy the great weekend event. Street Lights and Monoliths in Old Town

Wow so yesterday I was crossing the street by the WW2 memorial and and almost got plowed into by an unsuspecting driver. Now that driver was probably going a little faster than they intended but that happens. The scary part is that they didn't see me because of those hideous monoliths that have been erected on every corner in Old Town. Now I know the story on this as it was hush hush shoved down everyone's throat as an improvement that had great potential. But I will warn the city now, If I or any other citizen of this great city get hit we will sue you for visual impedance at a street corner, directly causing and accident. Run that by your lawyer!! In order to cross the street safely you have to actually go into traffic to make sure your seen. The no curb and parking space lines are a novel idea but not practical in a wet weather climate such as Oregon. When the streets flood so do the sidewalks as there is no channeling of the water to the sewer system that we pay so much for in our water bills. On another subject, while listening to the portion of the May 18th council meeting that didn't get fudged up, they were discussing a street light fee on our water bill. They are saying that the lights are costing more than they are getting in fees and want an increase! Wow every time the power goes out the timers get screwy on all the lights in old town and then they are on all day and off at night. Way to go!!! It was recently reported to me that a citizen called the main number at the brick palace to tell them about the error on the timers and was immediately brushed off by the woman who answered, as if she didn't care why should you! Of course this could be the same woman whose husband owns the Sherwood broadband so I am sure she doesn't care as they are stealing enough money out of our pockets. Wow I think I need a nap now. Remember Sherwood, We are watching and we are no longer going to let you steal from us, Fee us to death!!! Now that's change you can count on. Ta Ta

City Council Video Part 1

OMG that is 4 hours of my life that can never be gotten back!! May 18th video gets really interesting during public testimony on fees by Tim Voorhees and then when he is getting to the really good stuff POOF it shuts down and resets. I guess the city doesn't want the public to know and would rather make it harder for you to find out the truth. the video states 188 mins but at about 45 it goes poof. Now this being the only time would be no big deal, but I found after going through the last 5 video's it seems that 4 out of 5 are subject to some kind of glitch. This can only be on purpose and for the sole reason of censorship. I am sick o f the shenanigans going on and it is time for you to be held accountable. I have decided to have a friend who is a computer forensic investigator for a Federal Agency look into this. I think Mr Sheriff of Nottingham and you cronies, you may want to get worried. If it is found out that your sabotaging your own public record bad things can happen. You may want to consult you attorney as your records both public and private are going to be subject of the largest FOIA request since the Kennedy assassination. BEWARE I am watching you!!!!! TA TA

WHY I OPPOSE THE CANNERY PUD PROJECT AS PASSED BY CITY COUNCIL

I have been asked why I joined Jim and Susan Claus to try to stop the proposed cannery development at LUBA. Initially my position was simple. Something was wrong with the project, it just didn't smell right. I am a basic Sherwoodite of 37+ years. I like the town and my neighborhood. I believe I am an independent who can be reasoned with but I can't be bullied. On first investigation on the Capstone/City “Cannery Project” 6.5 acres as proposed made no sense. You cannot put in 101 apartment units with 2/3 of a parking space per unit and not overburden the surrounding neighborhood areas. OVER PARKING is a recipe for lowering land values for the apartment house and the adjacent homes. This lack of parking was the tip of the iceberg so to speak. The citizens knew that and so did the Planning Commission as the hearings progressed. They agreed to change the design from initial the City/Capstone layout, asked for more traffic studies and some other items and sent their recommendations to City Council.



Less than three days before the city council meeting, the city recorder, Sylvia Murphy, released the 2008 city contracts -- never shown to the Planning Commission-- that granted all the land use zoning exceptions on an option to purchase to Capstone. City Manager Jim Patterson had signed that contract with Capstone on September 3, 2008. Even though a public hearing was required on that zoning, Jim Patterson and the Council had signed the contract selling the zoning at an extremely low price-- about 25% or less, than what apartment zoning was selling for at the time! The City, (the citizens!) was responsible for the infrastructure also. Wowzer…. And Capstone did not have to pay any payments or interest on the property for five years after the completion of the apartments, if the units were not 95% occupied. Not only was the city selling land at a ridiculous low price, we were coming up with a project that could and would harm the neighborhood.



Another problem I have with the project is that the City will spend close to $15,000,000 to buy the land and build the infrastructure. This part of the project is non-taxable and will never return a dime. Capstone will build at most $15 M of assessed value of property. The city will pay 4% interest for the money and must pay the loan back in 20 years. Capstone will only pay back 1.5% in the form of annual taxes. The difference of the interest alone each year is about $500,000 annually. You could do a more sophisticated analysis on the lost revenues and it is actually worse than $500,000 annually. However, there is no point going there.



Let me summarize my objections to the Cannery project. The City was committed to this zoning by contract without a legally required public hearing in 2008. As Lori Randel called it, all the public hearings were a sham. The contract price on the land is a significantly less than the value that should have been placed on it. Capstone and the city's development WILL negatively impact the neighborhood and the old Town district. In addition to the $15M we will spend in infrastructure costs up front, we will spend another $500,000 annually more than comes back in taxes every year while Capstone enjoys no liability, and a BIG consulting fee from the city coffers and most all of the upside in the project. In my opinion, it is bad politics, bad economic development, and most of all bad public policy. It's not too late to just say "No" to a plan that will haunt our downtown for generations.

City Coucil Meeting

I did not attend the exercise in futility AKA the City Council Meeting last evening, but am very curious if they were able to pass a No Bid clause for the Cannery Project? I know that the Sheriff of Nottingham would like nothing better than to get that in place so that the former Sheriff and his Cronies can bilk more money out of this great city. Another thought is will they carefully edit the video on the web to ensure that the public has the wool pulled over their eyes? It has been reported to me that someone in the city has been editing the video and transcription for some purpose. I did hear that someone in the meeting had a recording device and will be providing me with that media so that I can compare it to the video. Hope it matches folks for your sake.. Another brief thing I would like to discuss is the new proposed Skate Park for our youth, good lord folks this is a no-brainer. We should be doing something for our kids instead of building adult play areas. Nothing better than having nothing for the kids to do Idle hands and all. It seems that the Sheriff has figured out every conceivable way to stifle this project. He has even instructed to local PD to start ticketing the kids for riding their boards on school property after hours. Wow now that will cause our kids to respect the police. Nice move dummy, who do you think you are? I am sure our Police Chief has spoken up about this to him and recommended they DO NOT do this. So back to the Skate Park, In the Archer you ask for pledges, I will not donate a dime to this project until I am sure that it will go for what it is intended, and no one else should either. This city has not shown to be good stewards of our tax dollars. This skate park should be built before the Cannery project. One last item to discuss, Mr City Manager, you stated yesterday in the Sherwood Archer that you wanted to thank Mr Jamison for a job well done, are you blind, our Middle and High School are both on the Fed no-no list and have been for a few years. Good Job? I think not!!!!! As far as I am concerned that man stole his pay from us for 5 years and good riddance. lets hope your choice does better. I doubt it as your track record is not so good. Folks I have been contacted by the Oregonian for a story, so now I put it to you, What is the most important thing you want the public to hear about. Let me know, get me the facts and I will present it. Uh oh City not only am I watching but so are more people. Ta Ta

Who Am I?

This is a question I am sure the folks over at the Brick palace are pondering right now. Why do I use a fictitious name? Well that simple I don't want anyone to confuse what I am doing is for any gain. No political or popularity. I do thins because every other way has failed to get the City to own up and get it right. For instance, why did the Sheriff of Nottingham take a $17,000 pay raise when he is asking the city to trim the fat? Does this not put him around $150,000 per year plus benefits? Did you know that a US Senator first term makes $170,000? and he/she is in charge of the voices of millions of people. Wow to put it in perspective for you, the Sheriff of Nottingham is paid approx $9.06 per person in Sherwood. That includes every man, woman and child. Wow!!!!! Now it seems that I have drawn the attention of some of the players at the Brick palace, This is called freedom of speech, you forced this! Let me also talk about 2 other things 1. City Council Meetings. You have a right under the charter to speak if there is time, however they don;t have to respond or answer. So that's a waste of time. They tel you they don't have to show you anything? WRONG Again, there is a little bugger called the Freedom of Information Act, guaranteed by our Constitution. Make a FOIA Request and they must provide the documents requested or they are in violation of FEDERAL Law. The only thing that cannot be accessed is documents pertaining to national security, so that won;t apply. The second thing i wanted to mention today is the laughable way this city enforces rules. It is selective so if you don't want the city on your tail you better so as your told. That works fine of your a medical marijuana Kool Aid drinker, if you actually care about this town as I do then ask them a simple request... RESIGN, RESIGN, RESIGN!!! Ta Ta,

Sherwood School District

So it seems the Sherwood School District is in shambles, We are good to 5th grade but after that we fail out students miserably! LOOK HERE! That is the link to the results of our district in the Federal Governments eye. It seems that LRMS has not been added as it was only opened this year, but i ma sure it will follow with SMS as most of the kids came from there. Both the high school and the Middle school have the distinction of "Repeatedly missed targets, on "troubled" list".Holy crap does this not alarm anyone? Wow in fact if you go back and look at all the districts in the Greater Portland Metro area, they all suck!Oh I know Measure 67 will fix it. What a laugh, did anyone bother to actually read the bill? bet you didn't! the money that was campaigned for the kids goes into the general fund and like our fair city you know what happens then right? new furniture, more State jobs and maybe a small pittance to our kids. So now you think what to do next right? maybe private school? Think again, our largest private school, ST. Francis, was treated so badly by our leaders in the city it is a shame. They have been trying to get a school gym built for 3 years and our inferior leaders stonewalled them til they could figure out how to get the most money out of them for their project. So again our extortion artist leaders will always put their needs above those of our children, and yet no outrage. No wonder they get away with this, YOU LET THEM BY NOT STANDING UP! Ta Ta

Memorial day Weekend

SO no real rant today as we enter a most somber weekend. I ask that although our City DOES NOT support our Military that you take a moment to reflect on the freedoms that these brave people have died for. Our city proved that they didn't support the military when they entered into that un-American situation with the former chief. I will not get into it you can look it up yourself, I just remind you that when they did that they did so in our name!! I think of a saying that describes it to a tee; Patterson knew as Shutlz flew!!! Nuff said. Next week I am going to cover a couple of things, 1. Making the city accountable 2. I will say that I must be really hitting you hard, as you tried to access my IP address. LOL good luck as it goes through your proxy server and points right back to you. Greetings all, Wow does anyone remember that play that caused such a ruckus 2 years ago? You remember the one that Caused a teacher to leave her job? Forced out is more like it, or the Principal who nixed it because the Board told her too? And then she left her job for personal reasons? Yeah right, she left because the board and city told her to or she would lose her pension or some garbage like that. Well guess what fellow residents of Sherwood, sit down her it comes..... A middle school in Connecticut is going to put on the play at their school. OMG! the outrage! Our students apparently were not mature enough to handle it but hey those folks on the East Coast are for more advanced than our own youth? Hogwash, we don't give enough credit to our own children. We had to put the play on in Portland far away from our quaint little hollow so as not to offend the 3-5 folks who threw a bloody hissy fit about the mature nature of the play. Wow so now the voice of the minority shall rule the majority. We lost 1 beloved educator, (Ms. Brown) and probably the best principal SMS had ever seen (Ms Pitioni) and who gets the short end of the stick? Our children do! Now this runs into what I was talking about earlier this week about Dr. Jamison the former Grand Poohbah of our school system, and his tactics toward education. His tenure ended in shame and regret as it was reported last year that they skewed the numbers of our graduation rate from SHS, and the pressure he put on his people to nix that heathen too adult for prime time play. Folks, teachers are hard to find, good teachers are really hard to find, and now we get embarrassed by some middle school in podunk CT. to put on a play that we couldn't let our kids see? You may not agree with me on this but it's not your blog so live with it. I am very angry that we are willing to stick our kids heads in the sand to protect them from the big bad world. If you have a middle school kid ask them tonight what is the preamble to the Declaration of Independence? Do not be surprised if they stare back at you like your nuts. Just another thing the City does to kill your freedoms, and control your lives. We can either let them rule from their Ivory tower or we can make the account for their actions. Your choice!!!! Ta Ta

Cannery Project Part One

WOW, I sat here all day pondering this pet project and it may take more than one posting to get through all the red tape involved in this. Not to mention the back room handshaking going on to see how much money we can give the friends of the Sheriff Of Nottingham! First we all know that this has been a pet project of one of our seasoned citizens who been very vocal about our cities idiotic decisions. Although I am personally for the center I don't think with the economy as it is and the state of the city as it is, it is probably not a great idea right now. Now if we have free money from the Fed or State for this construction and not on the backs of our already over-burdened tax payers then I am all for it. As for the proposed business spaces and apartments that are planned, I have one question DID THE RESIDENTS VOTE ON THIS!!!! or did the Sheriff and his cronies just decide for us? Why are we going to build business and storefronts when 30% of Sherwood retail spaces are vacant? Why did we make a back office deal with Capstone giving them tons of money for nothing until it is full or close to being full. Oh and one more thing, Why are they not even listening to the committee's recommendations? One of the members got so frustrated they even wrote into the Gazette and said SHAME ON YOU! Well said!!! Can our schools handle the new children? can Old Town handle the traffic and parking? Just one little thing to think about, say they build 100 units, and it is full with 150 adults and 150 children, (conservative numbers) and 3/4 of them go to work outside of Sherwood. What is that going to do to the traffic heading toward 99W through 1 3way stop and one 4 way stop and 3 traffic lights? Oh and the only way out are 2 lanes roads full of kids going to the 2 public schools? Wait I have it they are going to put all of Shurwood's Finest in those zones to rite speeding tickets in the school zones to pay for the empty retail they just built and can't lease. Even Trump wouldn't invest in this. Wow my head is swimming with the endless possibilities. Think about it. Ta Ta for now

Extra! Extra! Read all about it!!! Sherwood Gazette

Wow so for the heck of it i just checked to see if the Sherwood Gazette moved to the 21st century and got on the World Wide Web, and lo and behold there it was in all it;s glory. http://www.sherwoodgazette.com/news/index.php Now i would have thought that they would have everything up but alas no that is not the case. The opinion area is blank. Wait for the surprise.......dang no surprise there. In fact the only garbage on the web is fluff stories on how wonderful Sherwood is. So much for free press and the truth. I am sure it is because they don't want the search engines to pick up anything negative and make it easy to find. DO you think we would be the 18th most desirable city or Family Circle's top 10 if anybody knew what really went on here? I think not! Folks are screaming about a sign on 99w that makes you think. Wow has anyone ever read the First amendment? And staying on that topic how about the Sheriff of Nottingham trying to figure out a way to get that sign removed by saying it is not being used for the intended purpose of the permit granted? Too bad if you don't like it don't look. if it has a negative message than maybe we should fix what is broken instead of sticking our heads in the sand? Our new city Motto should be; "Welcome to Sherwood where Nepotism runs wild and if you don;t agree with what the dirty dozen at city hall says keep your mouth shut and pay your fees" Wow now that is a mouth full. Sherwood Broadband

SO as promised i sit here pondering the whole Sherwood Broadband and how it came to be. Although it is a nice idea, as the City of Portland found out very impractical and costly to run. My question is; how does a former City Council member and an employee of the city start a company to provide Sherwood Broadband for 1.5 mil a year? Does the term Conflict of Interest mean anything? How about the fact that we only generated 300k or so and the taxpayers had to foot the rest of the bill! So let's say for arguments sake that we only lost 1 million, Here is an example of what 1 million buys for us: 2 BRAND NEW Police cars(150k ea and not out of the bargain bin at Walmart, 14 more teachers (50k including benefits) Our classrooms are overcrowded and 14 teachers would help. 25 kids per classroom is good but allowing for expansion is better. Wow foresight might be asking a lot of our trusted leaders. Since they did not do that with the 298 new condos built on 99W and now the brand new school is overcrowded and not enough books or supplies to go around. That one was from our former Superintendent of schools with his PHD couldn't even do simple math. But that is a whole other thing to ponder later. And yet they ask for more. 17 million dollar budget for a city of 16k. Wow that equals $1062.50 per resident. That includes every single resident for a newborn to our Seasoned citizens. Are you people NUTS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! And wait we gave the Sheriff of Nottingham (City Manager a raise)!! Well enough of this for today as my blood pressure grows to insufferable heights. Ta Ta.

Police

So here we are on Monday morning and yet another Sherwood Police car is wrecked. Thank god the officer was not hurt. Another one of our fine examples of driving here in Oregon ran a red light and plowed into one of our officers. Now I know why the city decided to buy "USED" Police cars instead of new ones. Wow we save some money!!!! But the wrong way as far as I am concerned. Police need new, good working, Long Lasting cars and motorcycles rather than shopping the bargain bin. I have seen the motorcycle officer ride on tires he would ticket folks for having. Our fleet is old and tired. We can hire a Superintendent of Schools for 139K plus benefits but we can't even afford good tires or new Police cars. In fact the only thing new for Our Men and Women in blue is a golf cart we paid 16K for and in used by the code enforcer about 25% of the time and stays parked the rest for the time. Yay more responsible spending by our elite city council and Manager. I am so tired of looking at my water bill, seeing all those idiotic fees and wonder, Do we need a cultural Arts Center? Or maybe some new equipment for our Police. Something to ponder while you drink your coffee in the morning. Well enough for today but stay tuned for the next installment "Sherwood Broadband" Was it really needed or did the owner need 1.5 mil a year out of our pockets. Ta Ta

Water Bills

SO is it just me but if you have more fees than water usage you have a system run wild? Welcome to Sherwood where the Water billing software was sold to the city by the former City Manager and BTW it didn't work very well and had tons of problems. Hmmmmmm interesting. Or a well that was dug to help the water woes of our fair haven west of Portland did not have an environmental assessment done or it it was it was done on the dashboard of someones truck, this same said assessment would have show that the drain would have hurt the farmers down the way. But no we built it and they sued and now we can;t use it. What a waste of taxpayer money (millions). and who is in the middle of this fiasco you ask? Well not only the former city manager but also the replacement (didn't even interview for the job) but also include the city engineer (who at best can sharpen a pencil real well but nothing else). Yikes just think these are the folks we entrusted to look out for us and spend our tax dollars wisely. Stay tuned for more...

First day

So here we are on our first day blogging and wondering where to start. I guess the best place to start is the beginning and why this is even here. I live in Sherwood and it is a wonderful place to live in, however the city government is trying it's hardest to make life suck here. Over the next few days I will go into more detail of the almost blatant and downright illegal garbage that is allowed to go on in this fair city. Here are the cast of characters; Robin Hood (me) The Sheriff of Nottingham (City Manager) Bishop of Hereford(Mayor) and the insufferable sheep (council) also appearing are Little John (could be the former Police Chief and maybe not) and Friar Tuck (unnamed to protect the innocent). Here you will find the truth the whole truth and nothing but the truth. And we will talk about the hard questions that never seem to be answered. So now you met the cast of characters on with the show!!!!
